2011 Year in Review

This is my first year in review post. I thought that this would be a good thing to start to help remember things that have happened in years past. I am thinking of possibly doing a year in review with photos for 2012. I'm also not sure if I remembered everything for this year, so in some months I have nothing because nothing sticks out in my memory. I am just reviewing the memorable things that have happened to me this past year.
So here it goes:

January:

  • My husband, John, and I and my family took our second trip to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands in early January. It was a good time, we absolutely love St. Croix and how laid back it is, and warm! I remember this time, though, it was windy for most of our time there. They called those winds the "Christmas winds." I remember that we had to re-schedule our snorkeling because of the wind. One the last couple of days were were there, the wind died down, and it was very nice.
I wish I were on this beach right now! :)

This was on the first night we were there.

February:

  • I can't think of anything significant happening in February.
March:

  • John and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on March 3rd! It doesn't really seem like it's been 4 years, and soon it will be 5 years!

  • This month I officially started my photography business.

April:

Nothing really sticks out for me in this month.

May:

  • First thing that comes to mind is that this month was my grandma's 77th birthday.

June:
Hmmm, I can't remember anything eventful from this month.

July:
  • This month was my sister's wedding.
  • My grandma passed away in this month on the 13th. She had a large mass growing in her lungs and when she was in the hospital they gave her 1-3 months to live. She didn't want to die in the hospital, so she came home, and within 5 days she passed away. I remember that morning, while I was driving to work, there was something different, I felt weird. Then that afternoon I got a call from my mom saying that grandma wasn't doing well. My mom and I drove to Warrensburg together, but didn't make it before she passed away. It was really difficult, but I was also glad that she was no longer in pain or suffering.

This was a picture taken of my grandma before going to a costume party that one of the neighbors held every year.

This is a picture of my grandma when she was a little girl.

  • This month, at the same time of dealing with my grandma's death, and getting ready for my sister's wedding, oh yeah, and car problems, I was also applying to graduate school, which I was later accepted to.

August:

  • This month is marked with our vacation to Utah, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We drove out to Utah to go to my cousin's wedding. After that, we drove to Idaho where we stayed just on the other side of the Grand Tetons, which we visited. Then we drove up to Yellowstone. It was a great place to visit. I wouldn't want to drive there in the winter. I don't want to drive across Wyoming again! I would rather drive across Kansas than Wyoming.

  • After our vacation, we came back and I started my first class of the fall 2011 semester.

September:

  • I'm not sure if this was exactly in this month, it's been a topic for John and I on and off throughout the year. John and I discuss the possiblity of having our first child in 2012. I guess we'll have to wait and see what 2012 brings for us. ;)

October:

  • The Monster Bike Bash in Columbia, MO. This is the first year I have participated in this event. It is a bicycle ride on the Katy Trail from Columbia, MO to Rocheport, MO, and everyone was in costume. It was fun, except if I do it next year, we will have someone waiting at the end to pick us up. Because after riding to the destination, it is not so fun riding back to your car.

November:

  • My youngest sister got married this month.
December:

  • I complete my first graduate psychology class.
  • CHRISTMAS!

So I hope you enjoyed my look back at the year 2011. Next year I hope to post a 2012 year in review with photos only. :)
